A 2015 study comparing rosemary with minoxidil, a commonly used drug for combating hair loss, found rosemary essential oil to be just as good as the minoxidil, but only after six months of use.7 So stick with it! Rosemary oil stimulates hair follicles, thus assisting hair to grow longer and stronger. It also promotes cell division and dilates blood vessels in the scalp, which stimulates hair follicles to produce new hair growth.

Yes, they are an investment because I think they pretty expensive when you are an oil hoarder like me but they are worth it because they are perfect. They are designed well to fit in a standard kitchen drawer with no problems and work just like they should. I am glad I found this product.
An essential oil is a volatile material derived from a plant, and it usually bears the aroma or flavor of that plant. Although a few animal-derived aromatic products exist (mainly musk, civet, and ambergris), the ones of botanical origin are far more numerous. Like fixed oils (vegetable oil, motor oil), these substances are generally liquids, they won’t mix with water, and they are soluble in many organic solvents. Unlike fixed oils, however, essential oils are volatile: they evaporate rapidly at room temperature, whereas fixed oils will not. Chemically, an essential oil is a complex mixture of 30 to 100 or more compounds. Only with the advent of modern analytical techniques, particularly gas chromatography, have we fully appreciated the complexity of these mixtures. With gas chromatography, an oil is separated into its components, and the relative proportions of the components are represented graphically as a series of peaks—some large, some small. The area under each peak represents the proportion of each component in the oil, and by experience, structural analysis, and comparison of the chromatogram with others made with pure reference chemicals, we can identify many of the components. Next time you touch and sniff an herb, remember that your nose is being bombarded by a wide array of chemicals.
Hi Ashley, I had a bacterial ear infection which my doctor has given me 3 differant antibodics and now I have a fungal infection of my ear. I was using Climadoze cream 1% for a week but I am allergic to the ear drops that the doctor gave me . So I put teetree oil on and in my ear. It burned and was red so I washed it off. Next day it was alittle better and it is not as itchy and no discharge. Should i keep using it?Deb

When choosing, make sure these collections include any personal favorites. We also looked for oils that are naturally derived rather than having gone through a chemical process. This ensures they are purer and less diluted, with authentic aromas to create a pleasing scent to ease your aches and pains — or, just to make bath time into a spa ritual.
You either have to have access to chemical lab equipment (eg. a separating funnel or more distillation equipment) or you need to carefully separate the oil and water by hand. You can try using a turkey baster (not very precise) to suck off the water or try to wick off the water with cotton or paper towels, but, either way, you are very likely to lose some of the oils. Try checking out eBay for less expensive essenciers.
Make sure all your instruments are in stable positions. Depending on the tools you’re using and the shape of your pipe, you may have to work a little bit to find a safe, stable setup for all of your still components. Put the lid on the pressure cooker with the pipe attached to it, run the pipe through your cooling tub, and position the open end of the pipe over your essencier. Make sure the pipe is at a comfortable angle and nothing will get knocked over.
Improve brain health. Rosemary oil is stimulatory to the central nervous system, and helps to promote clearer thinking. Rosemary has long been valued for its ability to help overcome mental fatigue, and to improve mental clarity and focus. Japanese researchers have recently shown that carnosic acid (one of rosemary’s phytochemicals) has neuroprotective functions in brain cells and may be helpful in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.6
Hi Katie and Joan. I get my essential oils from a lot of different places. I honestly can’t see spending the extra money that Young Living and Do Terra charges for most of my DIY projects. The oils that I get from Mountain Rose Herbs, Aura Cacia and even Essential Depot are just as strong, have been through the same testing for active constituents and are much cheaper. My soap and other body care products turn out fine and are effective. You need to make your own choice based on what you are doing and want to achieve.
That would not be recommended. It can't be easily predicted which constituents of each herb would "survive" the process and which constituents may be affected by the constituents of the other plant. In addition, if you make them separately, you can choose whatever ratio of herbs you want to mix. In the end, taking an extra step should allow you more flexibility.
Soothe burns and sunburns. Put two to three drops of lavender oil on a minor burn to help relieve the pain. Applied quickly enough, it should stop the burn from blistering as well. Keep a bottle of lavender oil in the kitchen for those burned fingers. Dilute it as described below and apply to sunburns to relieve pain and hasten healing time. Lavender oil is also wonderful mixed with a little organic Aloe vera gel and applied to the skin after sun exposure.
For respiratory support. Frankincense is a powerful health support for respiratory problems such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, and bronchitis. It even helps when suffering from laryngitis. Diffuse it into the room where you intend to spend some time. For best results, use an ultrasonic cool mist diffuser. Never heat essential oils, because heating them diminishes their therapeutic effects.
The great thing about these recipes, is that you can experiment and change them based on what you like! So if you start with the recipe, but find you need more, you can add in more! My diffusers are all mid-size and hold between 100-150 ml of water. These recipes are based on that size (most home diffusers are similar in size). You can still use these recipes with yours! If you find you need to add more oil since you’re adding more water, add in a few extra drops of each and see how that does for you. So I set out to find out how I can make my own oils without the expensive still.
