Essential oils are extremely concentrated, and it is often advisable to dilute them in a carrier oil before applying them to skin. The most popular carrier oils are almond oil and grapeseed oil, but a variety of different oils can be used. They can be added during the bottling process or mixed with the pure oil just prior to use. The latter is often preferable because you may not want diluted oil for some uses, and carrier oils often have a shorter shelf life than essential oils.

Fortunately, there are a handful of commonly-used oils that cover most of your needs and can be found easily at local heath-food stores or specialty shops.
Rose oil is a great multi-purpose oil, but it can be very costly due to the difficult extraction process. It can take up to 60,000 roses to produce one ounce of rose oil, according to Rose-Works. “The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils” by Julia Lawless recommends rose oil for treatment of eczema, depression, stress and symptoms of menopause and sexual dysfunction 12.

I think there might be a bit of confusion here. The recipe is for an oil infusion, which is a wonderful ingredient with many different applications. However, it is not exactly an essential oil and certainly not as potent. Making a true essential oil involves the use of a still, and as I said above this can be quite a costly investment. Instead, I offer the alternative of an oil infusion.
Hi Ashley, I had a bacterial ear infection which my doctor has given me 3 differant antibodics and now I have a fungal infection of my ear. I was using Climadoze cream 1% for a week but I am allergic to the ear drops that the doctor gave me . So I put teetree oil on and in my ear. It burned and was red so I washed it off. Next day it was alittle better and it is not as itchy and no discharge. Should i keep using it?Deb

The Aura Cacia bottles are square, and I wasn't sure if they would stay oriented straight or would roll around at funny angles. They sit straight and look great. Be sure to set the back of one on top of the front of the one behind to "lock" them together in place. These come with tacky pad stickers to place on the bottom so they don't slide around in the drawer. Very well thought out product.
Sandy, u claim that u can't make essential oils at HOME??? well y is it that i use my small kitchen and a $150.00 E.O. distiller and i have made lavender oil, myrrh oil, frankincense oil, sage oil, A. As an anti-aging antioxidant. Oregano oil’s high antioxidant content makes it perfect for fighting the effects of aging, which is all about free radicals creating havoc throughout the body. If using it topically, be sure to dilute as described below because oregano can be a “hot” oil when applied to the skin. Always avoid the skin around the eyes and other sensitive areas.
Essential oils are highly concentrated oils that have a strong aroma. Sometimes they are called volatile aromatic oils because of their high concentration of the aromatic compounds. For example, the oil of “absolutes” is obtained from delicate flowers by either enfleurage or solvent extraction. Absolute oils often mimic the natural aroma of the plant and are also more colored and viscous than essential oils. (1)

Improve blood flow to brain. Eucalyptus oil is known to be a vasodilator, meaning it dilates, or opens, blood vessels. In 1994, Austrian researchers discovered that eucalyptol, a phytochemical in eucalyptus oil (also known as 1,8-cineol), improved global blood flow to the brain after only 20 minutes of inhalation.9 A newer study released in 2016 by Korean researchers found that eucalyptol is also able to pass through the blood-brain barrier, a protective membrane that separates potentially harmful substances from harming delicate brain tissues. This research also found eucalyptol’s high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to be helpful in the management of chronic conditions such as respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, and degenerative nerve and brain diseases.10

This storage shelf worked great if you have the space to use it. I prefer reading the side of my essential bottles to the little labels on the top. Quality was as expected. My only complaint is I wish I could find this angled design storage that was a tad more efficient so I could display a few more oils in the same amount of space. But overall I was pleased with this product.
