Using essential oils on your skin and in hair and beauty products is a natural and effective way to keep up your personal care regimes without having to use products that are made with chemicals and hydrogenated oils. Essential oils may calm irritated skin, reduce signs of aging, like age spots, improve acne, protect your skin from sun damage and thicken your hair.

Soothe burns and sunburns. Put two to three drops of lavender oil on a minor burn to help relieve the pain. Applied quickly enough, it should stop the burn from blistering as well. Keep a bottle of lavender oil in the kitchen for those burned fingers. Dilute it as described below and apply to sunburns to relieve pain and hasten healing time. Lavender oil is also wonderful mixed with a little organic Aloe vera gel and applied to the skin after sun exposure.

Hi Ashley, I had a bacterial ear infection which my doctor has given me 3 differant antibodics and now I have a fungal infection of my ear. I was using Climadoze cream 1% for a week but I am allergic to the ear drops that the doctor gave me . So I put teetree oil on and in my ear. It burned and was red so I washed it off. Next day it was alittle better and it is not as itchy and no discharge. Should i keep using it?Deb

Oh you’re so welcome!! I LOVE diffusing citrus oils, some of my favorites! I’ve never had an issue with our diffusers that way… but to clean them, fill it with half vinegar and half tap water and let it run a few hours. You can put it outside or in the garage or in a room you’re not using if you don’t like the scent 😉 Then in the morning or whenever you’re done, just wipe clean!! It keeps them running fresh! Hope that helps 😉

Essential oils are the volatile oils you can extract from plants (or other sources). The typical method of extraction is steam distillation. You can actually purchase or make your own still for this purpose. I found a nice copper 2 -quart still for around $400; still too much money for me. So I set out to find out how I can make my own oils without the expensive still.
The great thing about these recipes, is that you can experiment and change them based on what you like! So if you start with the recipe, but find you need more, you can add in more! My diffusers are all mid-size and hold between 100-150 ml of water. These recipes are based on that size (most home diffusers are similar in size). You can still use these recipes with yours! If you find you need to add more oil since you’re adding more water, add in a few extra drops of each and see how that does for you. Sometimes in a large open space I find that I need to add in a little more myself. 😉 Hope that helps… have you tried any yet?? I’d love to hear which ones you like!
